Carley had her surgery done, and I brought her a giant toy panda. Except, I went to the wrong hospital. I went to Princess Margaret, but she was at Toronto General, so I had to walk through the rain. It wasn’t raining that much, but I still had to walk through the rain with a six-foot-tall panda. And this was when Carley didn’t want me to see her. But she couldn’t get mad at me because I got her a six-foot-tall panda. It was a really, like, love-hate relationship there, because she hated that I went against everything she said but loved that I got her the panda and surprised her with it, as I just showed up.

She was very angry, though, because she wanted to look nice for me always, but sometimes you can’t always look nice. This was the day I could barely recognize her after her surgery, but I still remember being able to recognize her solely through her big bright-blue eyes that would always bring a smile to my face.
